The Report link at the bottom of any spot or spotter page reaches us; a person reads every one within a day. An email address is coming.
How identification works
One photo is sent to an AI model that returns a species, its family, and a note on what gave it away, with a confidence reading. We show that reading as confident, likely or unsure rather than hiding it. Identification from a single photograph is not always right. If a name looks wrong, take another photo with the flower or leaf filling the frame.
Where your spots appear
You always see the exact point on your own spots. Other people see a neighbourhood about a kilometre across, unless you set a spot to Exact (a park, a trail) or Hidden. Spots in the area where you take most of your photos are always shown as a wide area, whatever you choose, so a run of garden spots never draws a map to a door. Change the default on your Field Guide page and any single spot from its page.
Prints
- You can order a print of any species you have found yourself. The poster carries the plate, your name and the date; the coordinates are your choice at order time.
- Enhanced matte paper, 12 × 16, 18 × 24 or 24 × 36 inches, framed or rolled in a tube. Printed to order and shipped within the United States, usually within five to ten business days.
- Damaged or misprinted? Email a photo within 30 days and we reprint it at no cost. Because each print is made to order, we cannot accept returns for a change of mind.
- Your order page shows the status and tracking as soon as the printer has it.
First Finds
The first person to log a species is its First Find: their name, the date and the place stay on the species plate. If a First Find was a misidentification, report the spot and we will correct the record.
Reporting and blocking
Every spot and every spotter page has a Report link at the bottom. Reports are private and acted on within a day. Blocking a spotter, from their page, removes their spots, photos and leaderboard row from what you see.
Deleting your profile
At the bottom of your Field Guide page choose Delete profile. It removes your spots, photos, name and settings immediately. See the privacy policy for what stays and why.
